But Las Vegas represents more than that!
Just like so many other cities, there are many other attractions in this populous city that are just as exciting but that not a lot of tourists know about.
So, if you are thinking about taking a vacation by yourself or with family, you should definitely consider adding some of these one-of-a-kind attractions into your trip’s schedule.
The Mob Museum
One place that deserves a look for the history and excellent kitch factor (hey it was just on Vh1’s MobWives!) is The Mob Museum. It showcases theater presentations and exhibits pf organized crime leaders such as Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel, John Gotti and Whitey Bulger, as well as the law enforcement that chased them.
This museum is located in the heart of the city, and the cost of admission is pretty inexpensive; a ticket for an adult runs for less than $20 USD, and children enter for free. And if you are a senior, student, teacher or in the military, show off those ID’s because you’ll obtain an awesome discount!
National Atomic Testing Museum
For science lovers, the National Atomic Testing Museum is absolutely a must see while in Vegas. This museum showcases a collection of more than 12,000 scientific artifacts!
What might be the coolest part of it is this area was once an actual testing area. So you can walk through the old site and see where scientists were developing nuclear technology. For those of us who were too young to really experience it, you can get a taste of life deep into the Cold War, pretty interesting stuff.
Las Vegas 51s
Like baseball? If you do, then you should check-out the Las Vegas 51s, a minor league baseball team established in 1983, which frequently performs for a sold-out arena.
The price of admission is $14 for adults (18-61) and children who are under 6 years of age get in for free. So it is the perfect family experience if you have traveled to Vegas with kids and want to have a laid back, family friendly afternoon.
Fremont Street Experience
Not scared of heights nor attaining attention? Then you should try zip-lining at the Fremont Street Experience” located in downtown Las Vegas, where you’ll experience what it’s like soaring across a great distance while people watch you from below. Definitely a great ride to discover!
And now the ride is getting an upgrade, check out the new SlotZilla zip line ride, truly something totally unique to the area.
Ever wondered what would it be like to drive a bulldozer or an excavator just for fun? In Las Vegas you can do just that! Dig This is a heavy equipment playground business that lets you drive these types of machinery, all over their lot.
You’ll receive orientation on how to use these big moving objects and then you’ll be able to drive them and build huge mounds, push tires, dig, stack gigantic tires or play Bucket Basketball. Gotta admit, sounds like a lot of fun!
As you can tell, there is more to do in Las Vegas than most out-of-state residents assume. So next time you head to Vegas, get off the strip!
