Somewhere on I-70

Somewhere off the side of the highway.

I have to give myself a shout out, I kinda dig this picture. When I got my Canon DSLR, I had no idea (well, I still kinda have no idea) how to use it. I think I took a ridiculous amount of photos on my trip to Aspen, and the vast majority I wasn’t too happy with, but there were a few diamonds in the rough.

It helps that the scene was pretty much a beauty on its own. I’m pretty sure I took this on my first day, during my drive from Denver to Aspen. Admittedly, I did not spot this and immediately pull off to the side of the road, it was actually just behind the parking lot of a rest stop! I suppose in Colorado, beauty is everywhere!

  • In Colorado, beauty is ALMOST everywhere! Some of the barren patches of land out east aren’t nearly as picturesque, but I love this shot.

Thanks, John. I found even what locals would think was nothing, really beautiful. I think coming from New England (although we have a lot of pretty spots), it’s just a totally different type of nature that really appealed to me.

  • I lived in Denver for 4 years and loved its rugged beauty. And I’m with you….I took over 600 pictures while I was in Prague and Berlin and maybe got 20 that I was really proud of. I like to think of it as having high standards (it’s either that or we have no clue what we’re doing).

Haha!Maybe it’s a little bit of both! Have not been to Berlin, but there are a ton of photo opportunities in Prague. Very happy for the delete option on my DSLR.

  • Beautiful photo. This just makes me excited to go to Colorado for TBEX.

Thanks! I have to make it to a TBEX one of these days.
